A closer look at upcoming Ackaia One access programs

We are preparing new access programs for Ackaia One, including student discounts and free accounts for independent journalists.

Ackaia Corp. is building the One subscription suite around a simple idea: a private cloud suite shouldn’t require users to treat their most sensitive files as ordinary data readable by the platform.

That idea matters even more for people who work, study or publish under pressure. Students may need a reliable private space for academic work, research materials and personal documents. Independent journalists may need storage that treats drafts, notes, records and received files with more care than the default cloud model usually provides.

We are preparing new access programs for Ackaia One to make that kind of private storage easier to reach.

What we are working on

Two programs are currently being prepared.

The first is a student incentive for the Ackaia One 100GB plan. Eligible students will be able to receive a 50% discount on the plan after completing student verification.

The second is a journalist access program for independent journalists. Under this program, selected independent journalists will receive special free Ackaia One accounts with 100GB of storage.

Both programs are still being finalized, but we wanted to share a closer look at the direction before the first invitations begin.

A 50% student discount on the 100GB plan

Students often work with more sensitive material than they realize: personal records, academic drafts, research files, financial documents, identity documents, internship materials and private correspondence.

A privacy-first storage product should not be reserved only for people with large budgets. The student program is being designed to reduce that barrier without changing the security model behind the product.

Eligible students will be able to receive 50% off the Ackaia One 100GB plan. The discount will be available for a maximum of four years, and students will need to verify their student status once per year to keep the discount active.

This yearly verification is important. It allows the program to remain focused on active students while keeping the offer sustainable over time.

Free 100GB accounts for independent journalists

Independent journalism depends on trust, careful handling of information and the ability to work without unnecessary exposure. A storage product cannot replace good operational security, encrypted communication habits or editorial judgment, but it can reduce one important risk: treating sensitive files as ordinary cloud data.

We are preparing a special access program for independent journalists. In the first phase, journalists already selected as part of an internal Ackaia Corp. list will begin receiving invitations.

After that initial phase, independent journalists who did not receive an invitation will be able to request a free 100GB Ackaia One account.

The goal is not to turn privacy into a luxury feature. The goal is to give people doing sensitive public-interest work access to storage that was designed with confidentiality as a core requirement.

Careful access, not careless growth

Programs like these need to be built carefully. Free and discounted access can help the right users, but it also needs clear eligibility rules, verification flows and abuse protections.

That is why we are taking a staged approach.

For students, the core requirement will be student verification, renewed yearly. For journalists, the first wave will begin with selected independent journalists from our internal list, followed by a request process for others who may qualify.

This gives us room to improve the process, review edge cases and keep the program aligned with the people it is meant to support.

Why we are announcing this early

Ackaia Journal is where we explain what we are building before it becomes a finished product page or a short announcement.

This is one of those cases.

The student and journalist programs are not just pricing experiments. They are part of a broader belief behind Ackaia Corp.: privacy-first infrastructure should be understandable, useful and accessible to people who actually need it.

A cloud product can be technically strong and still fail if it only speaks to companies with procurement teams, security departments and large budgets. Ackaia One is also being built for individuals who need serious privacy without enterprise complexity.

What happens next

In the coming period, selected independent journalists will begin receiving invitations for free 100GB accounts.

After that, we plan to open a request path for independent journalists who were not part of the first invitation list. Student verification for the 50% discount on the 100GB plan will also be made available as the program becomes ready.

We will share more details when the application and verification flows are ready.

For now, this is the direction: fewer barriers, clearer access and private storage for more of the people who need it.
